Physical Therapy
Las Vegas Chiropractor Offers Physical Therapy
We hear the term “physical therapy” in reference to athletes who must recover from sports injuries, but athletes are not the only ones requiring rehabilitative therapies. A personal injury around the house, a car accident injury or a work-related injury can all cause back pain, neck pain, joint pain, migraines or even soft tissue damage. Many incidents that seem minor at the time can force your vertebrae out of alignment, leading not only to nerve impingement, back pain or neck pain, but also to loss of function, thus requiring physical therapy. Muscles weakened from a lengthy illness may also need physical therapy before they regain full strength. If you live in Las Vegas and you are working your way back to health, you need more than just a physiotherapist -- you need a Las Vegas chiropractor who also performs physiotherapy.
How Our Chiropractor Can Help
At Decatur & Craig Chiropractic in Las Vegas, our chiropractor, Dr. Hallgren, believes in taking the holistic approach to health, relying not on a single treatment method but on a variety of physiotherapy modalities to help you rehabilitate your injury or recover from illness gently, safely and effectively.
Dr. Hallgren may incorporate one, several or all of the following therapeutic procedures into your physical therapy plan for maximum results. These procedures include Interferential electrical muscle stimulation, microamperage neural stimulation, mechanical traction, moist heat therapy and ultrasound therapy. Interferential electric muscle stimulation, for example, applies mild, low-frequency electrical current to help muscles reverse atrophy, boost circulation, speed healing and increase functionality.
Microamperage neural stimulation applies low-level electrical stimulation that causes the body to release endorphins, the chemicals your body produces naturally to relieve pain. Mechanical traction puts you on a special table while mechanical rollers work on your lumbar or cervical spine, stimulating hydration and proper fluid balance while reducing injury-related scarring. Moist heat therapy in the form of heat packs or other external devices can help injured muscles relax, encouraging the healing process while relieving neck pain or back pain. Ultrasound, or high-frequency sound waves far above the range of human hearing, can be applied to release adhesions formed by scar tissue, add flexibility to soft tissues, help heal damaged nerves and promote bone regrowth.
In keeping with our “whole person approach,” we use several different support treatments to help boost the effectiveness of these modalities. For example, we offer hyperbaric oxygen therapy, which feeds extra oxygen to muscles and tissues that need it, as well as massage therapy to keep the circulation flowing and ease the tension that can trigger migraines. Of course, periodic chiropractic checkups can help you maintain the successful results of your physical therapy by preventing small misalignments from allowing new back pain, neck pain or injuries to develop later.
If you seek a health provider who will act as a trusted partner in your recovery from that car accident injury, personal injury or illness, contact our office today at 702-534-5764 and ask about our physical therapy solutions. Whether you are a professional or amateur athlete, an office worker or a homemaker, we want to help you heal.
